Alex graduated from the USSR State Art University with an MA in Illustration and Design in 1990. Soon after completing his studies, Alex started his six years of work on info-graphics and illustration in the news department of Maariv, a major daily newspaper in Israel.
During Alexs work in Maariv, he won the 1995 Reuter Foundations News Graphics Award contest for the best info-graphics artist. The award was given for a series of graphical portraits of major Israeli politicians and businessmen. These graphical portraits were used in the 1996 elections on the State Television News. In 1996, Alex was invited to the "Show Don't Tell" International Infographics Workshop in Pamplona, Spain.
Since 1997, Alex has lived and worked in Toronto. He has been working on a variety of projects including court illustrations, storyboards, graphic design and multimedia works. Alex has worked for leading Canadian and International Broadcasters and Publishers.
In 2006, Alex received an Award of Excellence in the Society for News Designs (SND's) Annual Creative Competition for participation in The Toronto Stars News Design projects. He was also nominated for the 2009 SND award for his info-graphical illustration of The Toronto Stars Investigative Story. In 2007, Alex worked as an Illustrator on Michael McNamaras documentary film "100 Films and a Funeral".
Additionally, Alex always enjoys working on traditional portraits and cartoons of celebrities.
